Suzuki will premiere a new compact SUV at September’s Frankfurt motor show.
In terms of size, the iV-4 concept model, as it is known, will sit below both the Grand Vitara and upcoming S-Cross, (due December 2013) in a field now populated by the likes of Ford EcoSport, Holden Trax, Opel Mokka, Peugeot 2008 and Renault Captur.
It’s anticipated the iV-4 will replace the Sierra Jimny in Suzuki’s line-up. The Jimny is to be phased out locally due to its lack of stability control, which already prevents it from being sold in Victoria.
The iV-4 concept is a development of the Maruti XA Alpha concept shown at the 2012 Delhi motor show.
The Japanese manufacturer says its Concept iV-4 model is an indication of its new styling direction which will be “taken with the future model to be added to the company’s renowned SUV line-up”.
Suzuki added that the iV-4 will inherit certain design features from other SUVs in its range, including the clam-shell bonnet and five-section front grille. The company is otherwise tight-lipped on its concept, choosing only to release a couple of shadowy images (pictured).
The Suzuki iV-4 will be unveiled to the press at the Frankfurt motor show on September 10 (2013).
