The forthcoming all-electric 2022 Toyota bZ4X SUV will be capable of covering up to 516km between charges under the tough WLTP testing regime.
Ahead of the EV's launch in Europe, the 516km figure is achievable with the 150kW front-wheel drive version with the 71.4kWh battery onboard.
The heavier, more powerful 160kW all-wheel drive version has been homologated with an official range of 470km.
In European markets, the Toyota bZ4X is offered with Pure, Motion and Vision model grades, with the base model fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels, an 8.0-inch infotainment system, 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, a reversing camera, keyless entry and a pre-heat/chill function.
There's no word yet on pricing for the Australian market – and we might have to wait some time after the bZ4X's original mid-2022 launch was pushed back to early 2023.
What we do know is it won't be cheap, following comments from Toyota Australia's sales boss.
In markets like the UK, the bZ4X is priced from £41,950 that equates to around $A73,000. In Australia, that would position it close to the Hyundai IONIQ 5 that's priced from $71,900.
The bZ4X is the first car to sit on Toyota's all-new e-TNGA architecture, which was also co-developed with Subaru.
The 150kW/265Nm front-wheel drive version can hit 100km/h from rest in 8.4 seconds.
The faster 160kW/336Nm all-wheel drive dual-motor bZ4X is claimed to cut the 0-100km/h time to 7.7 seconds.
Choose the dual-motor all-electric Toyota and the bZ4X comes with the brand's XMode terrain response system that pre-arms 4WD for snow, mud and off-road conditions.
When introduced in Europe, Toyota will offer an extended care warranty that guarantees the battery capacity for up to 70 per cent after 10 years.
