Gemballa has released pictures of an extreme off-road version of the 911 that it plans to push into production.
The wild, jacked-up 911 -- called the Avalanche 4x4 -- draws its inspiration from the Porsche 911s that used to race in the Safari rally in the 1970s and '80s.
Appearing a day after a similar concept based on an older 911 was revealed by fellow German tuner RUF, the Gemballa Avalanche 4x4 appears to be based on the earlier 991-series 911, instead of the latest 992 911.

It is set to be developed alongside a similarly more rugged, extreme version of the Porsche Cayenne that will be renamed the Tornado 4x4, but there's been no more details on what will power either car.
What the German tuner has announced is that it is pressing ahead with the development of its unhinged 600kW hypercar that it teased last year.
Gemballa, which traces its fast Porsche history back to 1981, is also about to launch a classic car division that will maintain and restore classic Gemballa Porsches.

The small tuner says it will also sell the 991-based Avalanche 4.2 RS it launched at the 2017 Geneva motor show and release a version based on the latest 992.
Finally, Gemballa's 610kW GTR Evo-R Biturbo will be updated later this year, with a 746kW version set to be ready for sale around the third quarter of this year. It will be even quicker than the current car, which is claimed to hit 100km/h in just 2.3 seconds.
