The venerable Genesis G70 sports sedan could be on for yet another facelift, potentially extending its lifecycle beyond 2027, but whether that’ll be the case in Australia remains to be seen.

According to Top Rider, Genesis recently completed the “emissions and noise certification” of the new model in Korea and will soon debut an updated G70 that’s tipped to be more efficient and safer as emissions and crash regulations tighten around the world.
For context, the Korean publication was referring to the turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder and twin-turbo 3.3-litre six-cylinder petrol engines offered in the G70’s home market as opposed to the 2.0-litre turbocharged offered here alongside the V6.
An update this year – following the major facelift of 2020 and 2023 refresh – would theoretically see the aging rear-drive four-door live beyond 2027 and into the double digits; a milestone the closely related Kia Stinger couldn’t reach.

Genesis Australia had no information for carsales when we reached out about the prospect of another G70 update, but did confirm the G70 would be with us “for the foreseeable future”.
If the G70 does get another facelift, there’s a decent chance it will be the brand’s last pure internal-combustion model, as Genesis explores various avenues of electrification for its current and future line-up.
Top Rider has speculated the updated G70 will debut sometime this year.
