A facelift and general upgrade for Toyota's sales champ car in Australia is headed our way.
The Toyota Auris, which we know here as the Corolla hatch, was rolled out in Geneva earlier today, featuring cosmetic changes externally. Inside the model gains a restyled dash with new trim materials around the cabin, and revised air vents, door handles and gear lever surround.
According to a press release issued today by Toyota Australia, the Auris rides better and delivers improved driving enjoyment, as a result of fettled suspension and steering. The electric steering has been remapped for more reduced assistance (more weight) as speed rises. Toyota claims that the changes to the suspension have "improved initial roll damping, minimised friction and enhanced straight-line ride comfort."
In the local market, the Corolla will continue to be powered by the 103kW 1.8-litre petrol four-cylinder, but is expected to be more economical, when it arrives here around October this year.
