Hyundai has shown off a larger, bolder i30 Wagon.
Due to be unveiled in full at next month’s Geneva motor show, the latest confirmed derivative of the i30 family will build on the incoming 2017 i30 hatch, due in Australian showrooms in April.
While Hyundai in Australia is yet to commit to releasing the new variant, what we already know is that the next-generation wagon will be longer and roomier than the predecessor, which was quietly pulled from local showrooms last year.
According to Hyundai, the wagon’s length has increased 100mm over the predecessor to 4585mm while width has increased 15mm to 1795mm.

The added proportions have liberated more interior space than before, including what’s claimed to be one of the biggest boots in the segment, at 602 litres (1650 litres with rear seats folded flat).
Up front, the i30 Wagon will be offered with an 8.0-inch touch-screen projecting new functions such as Apple CarPlay and Hyundai’s latest navigation system. Safety systems are set to comprise automated emergency braking, driver attention alert, high-beam assist and lane keeping assist.

The longer, sleeker body also correlates with Hyundai’s projection of a more coupe-like silhouette, as alluded to in an earlier teaser image.
The i30 wagon will be offered with three petrol engines and one diesel engine.
Keep an eye out for our full coverage at the Geneva motor show, including what prospect the i30 Wagon is of returning to Australia, where it would not arrive before early 2019.
