Just when you thought two of McLaren's fiercest supercars couldn't get any more heroic, McLaren Special Operations trots out tricked-up versions of the P1 and 675LT Spyder.
MSO has gone to town with carbon-fibre on its two most powerful vehicles to date, claiming the 675LT Spider is the "fastest ever, street-legal convertible".
Created for next month's Geneva motor show, the 675LT Spider by MSO is a one-off special festooned with carbon-fibre to showcase the capabilities of its customisation outfit.
Even the retractable roof is made from carbon-fibre, shaving one kilogram from the car's weight, plus there's carbon louvres on the front quarter panels. Carbon is also visible on the front and rear aprons, side intakes and side skirts.
Xenon yellow bucket seats make the cabin pop, while the engine bay cradling the highly-strung 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 features a 24-carat gold heat shield to attract the eye.
Performance is unchanged from regular model, meaning the near-500kW machine accelerates to 100km/h in 2.9 seconds, 200km/h in 8.1 seconds and a top speed of 326km/h.
The sold-out McLaren P1 by MSO "showcases the craftsmanship and levels of tailoring available to all McLaren owners" via a carbon-fibre exterior body finish with Lio Blue tinted lacquer.
The wheels have a gloss black finish and the cabin gets a carbon black finish. Like the abovementioned car, the bespoke P1 also gets a 24-carat gold exhaust heat shield.
The two hero models will take pride of place on the McLaren exhibit at the Geneva motor show alongside the McLaren 650S GT3 race car – the same car that won the 2016 Bathurst 12-Hour – and a "still-to-be-announced addition to the Sports Series family".
What will that car be? Potentially a convertible version of the 570S to rival the likes of the Lamborghini Huracan Spider.
