Skoda has released its first teaser for the new large SUV it plans to reveal at the Geneva motor show in March.
Expected to be called the Kodiak, the new 4x4 will be longer, wider and taller than the its current Yeti SUV and thought to share its platform, engines and transmissions with the, equally large, soon-to-be-revealed Volkswagen CrossBlue.
On sale in the first half of 2017, the big SUV will be Skoda’s first seven-seat offering and measure up to 4.7 metres long.
Available with a range of four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, in Europe a diesel-electric plug-in hybrid version will also join the range later that could eventually be offered here.
Originally the big SUV was thought to be called the Snowman after reports that name had been trademarked by Czech car-maker, but that has since been ruled out by Skoda with ‘Kodiak’ reported to be a more likely name for the flagship Skoda SUV.
