New Tribeca? New Outback? Or brand-new family? At this stage we're guessing the Subaru VIZIV which will be unveiled next month at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show will be none of the above...
Indeed, rather than directly point to a new generation of one of Subaru's existing models, the VIZIV is tipped by Subaru insiders to be a taste tester – delivering hints at the styling direction the Japanese AWD brand will adopt as it readies models for the 2015 model year and beyond.
Subaru says the VIZIV's name is "inspired by the phrase 'Vision for innovation.'" At this stage it has offered no other details.
The Geneva show will also be the debut Subaru's first auto-equipped diesel. To be released Down Under in April, the auto oiler will combine Subaru's 2.0-litre turbodiesel Boxer four with the company's Lineartronic continuously variable auto transmission (CVT) in the Outback. As we reported last week, further applications of the self-shifting diesel will hinge on the sales success of the Outback with this drivetrain combination. Watch out for more news from Geneva in coming weeks.
