GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: Subaru XV teased

Impreza-based small SUV will introduce Subaru's first hybrid to Aussie market

Subaru has today announced a website counting down the days and hours to the reveal of its second-generation XV.

A teaser image released with the news shows a side profile of the car, which is bound to share a lot of DNA with the latest Impreza, including a modular platform named SGP, the Subaru Global Platform. It's this modular platform that paves the way for hybrid models, including a hybrid XV that's already understood to be headed our way.

The current XV has been on sale in Australia since 2012, and the importer has sold nearly 48,000 units during that period, according to VFACTS, making the new generation XV a vital cog in Subaru's local marketing strategy. It's planned for the new XV to arrive in Australia around the middle of this year.

Introducing the XV in Geneva will be President and CEO, Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, who will take to the stand at 11:00am (Geneva time) on March 7.
