GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: Toyota RAV4 Adventure and Premium
Designers let loose on Toyota's new RAV4 to create a pair of concepts aimed at different SUV buyersToyota has fronted up to Geneva with a couple of RAV4-based show cars created by its Kansei design team in Brussels.
Designers took the recently released RAV4 and developed the two design studies around two separate themes: Adventure and Premium.
The themes seem to explore the dual-role nature of the RAV4, with the RAV4 Adventure equipped to go off-roading, and the RAV4 Premium styled as a stylish, comfortable, quality product for urban motoring.
In the case of the latter, the RAV4 Premium is finished in a Deep Bronze colour and features a redesigned grille with chrome accents. Chrome is also a highlight at the rear, complementing brushed aluminium skid plates and integrated exhaust outlets. The RAV4 Premium runs on 20-inch alloy wheels that coordinate with the aluminium roof rails.
Inside, the upholstery is leather with black piping and two-tone double stitching. A combination of grey and black leather is used throughout the cabin.
The RAV4 Adventure is finished in red, but with wheel arch flares, lower side sill protection and additional decorative pieces on the bumpers all in matte black. As for the other show car, the RAV4 Adventure is fitted with 20-inch alloy wheels and comes with a redesigned nose, rear skid plate and integrated exhaust pipes. Roof rails and privacy glass are the final touches that complete the RAV4 Adventure.
If the design studies shake out some prospective buyers in Geneva, Toyota will be sure to expand its accessory range to exploit that interest.
