GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: Toyota to tone down C-HR

All-new small SUV likely shed some of the edgy C-HR concept's wild design

Toyota has released an arty teaser sketch of the all-new small SUV it will reveal at the Geneva motor show on March 1.

Although it's hard to discern much from this highly stylised line drawing, the production version of the radical C-HR concept unveiled at last year's Frankfurt show (pictured) appears to feature less futuristic C-pillars and headlights.

Exactly how close the unnamed production model – to be positioned below the RAV in Toyota's sprawling SUV line-up – will be to the C-HR concept remains to be seen, but Toyota says it will bear a new design language for the company.

"Toyota will reveal the long-awaited production car based on the C-HR Concept at next week's Geneva International Motor Show," said the Japanese car-maker.

"The C-HR will give Toyota a powerful new presence in the fast-growing small SUV market.

"Based on Toyota New Global Architecture, it brings the promise of an engaging drive experience.

"The C-HR's dramatic styling represents a breakthrough in the segment, and shows the new face of Toyota.

"It matches a stunning five-door coupé design to an elevated SUV-style cabin combined with a contemporary high-riding driving position."
