General Motors has been the victim of a security breach that resulted in a picture of the GMC Hummer EV's all-new powertrain being leaked online.
The new image, which surfaced on GMauthority.com over the weekend, was created to show how the revived Hummer brand will position the batteries of its all-new off-roader low in the chassis between the front and rear axle.
Two huge electric motors, meanwhile, are mounted at either end of the truck and have no physical link between the front and rear axles.
As well as the powertrain layout, the leaks reveal a previously unseen wheel design for the GMC Hummer SUV, which is set to be introduced in late 2021.
Featuring a concave face, silver finish and intricate design, the intricate 16-spoke wheels appear to have been created specifically for serious off-road use.
GM, which originally planned to reveal its resurrected Hummer brand as an EV sub-brand from GMC back in May, has already revealed it will offer single-, double- and even triple-motor version that will produce up to 1000hp (746kW) and a barely believable 15,592Nm of torque.
With all three motors fitted, the Hummer EV will apparently be capable of hitting 100km/h in around three seconds.
Set to be among the first to use GM's new Ultium battery tech, the Hummer will benefit from batteries that can withstand ultra-fast charging and last up to a million miles.
There's no word on driving range, but the battery packs will range from 50kWh to a powerful 200kWh, and with the flagship cells it's expected to cover up to 800km between charges.
As well as an SUV, an all-electric Hummer pick-up is also in development.
Arriving in North American showrooms roughly a year after its global launch, from around October 2021, the new Hummer EVs could also eventually be sold in Australia under the GMSV brand.
Created to rival EV trucks like the Tesla Cybertruck, the Hummer will come with GM's advanced semi-autonomous Supercruise cruise control system that is set to offer Level 3 hands-off autonomy on the highway.
Stay tuned, because it's thought GMC will continue to release teasers of its all-new Hummer EV in the build-up to its official launch this October.
