GMC Yukon Denali Signature Black announced

Aussie special edition makes for one sinister luxury SUV

The News

A special-edition GMC Yukon Denali has been announced for the Australian and New Zealand markets. Dubbed the Signature Black, it trades the standard car’s glitzy chrome for a blacked-out exterior treatment that would have even Darth Vader saying “wow, that’s dark”.

Key features have also been added in response to customer feedback, with the vehicle available to order now.

The Key Details

  • Special edition for Australian and New Zealand markets
  • Blacked-out detailing, larger rims and seven-seat configuration
  • Price premium of $6500, available to order now

The Finer Details

Priced at $181,490 plus on-road costs, the GMC Yukon Denali Signature Black is $6500 more expensive than the standard vehicle.

‘Black Vader Chrome’ is used for the grille, grille surround, front and rear fascia accent trim, and side mouldings, with Australian cars including an illuminated GMC emblem. Gloss black is used for the bonnet moulding and roof rails, while the exterior badging and wheels become black.

Those wheels are now 24 inches in diameter, an inch larger than standard, and feature a different design, while the rest of the mechanical package is unchanged. This means a 313kW/624Nm 6.2-litre V8 powering all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission, with air springs and Magnetic Ride Control active dampers.

Inside, the second row is converted into a pair of luxurious captain’s chairs, making the Signature Black a seven-seater, with the three-across third row remaining. A powered sliding centre console is also included, but otherwise the specification is unchanged, with triple-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel and rear seats, a 14-speaker Bose stereo, and dual 12.6-inch entertainment screens for rear passengers.

Maximum braked towing capacity remains 3628kg, while the 3447kg Gross Vehicle Mass provides 785kg of payload and the Gross Combined Mass is 6577kg.

The Road Ahead

The GMC Yukon Denali is finding a small but enthusiastic audience in Australia, with sales of 219 units to the end of July 2026 up 85.6 per cent on the same period in 2025.

Its popularity has led Walkinshaw to offer a supercharger kit that increases power by 44 per cent and torque by 36 per cent, and GM ANZ acting managing director Greg Rowe says the Signature Black is evidence of the company taking feedback on board.

“The Yukon Denali Signature Black reflects how closely we listen to our partners and respond to what they want from a premium SUV. Developed with their feedback in mind, the second-row captain’s chairs and purpose-selected 24-inch wheels, finished in a distinctive all-black treatment, give customers a more individual expression of GMC luxury.”

The GMC Yukon Signature Black is available to order now.
