Jeep has released a special-edition version of its high-grade Grand Cherokee 3.0 CRD Overland featuring a range of premium exterior and interior updates for $4000 more.
Priced at $75,000 plus on-road costs and designed to “shake up both its direct and upmarket large SUV competitors”, the Grand Cherokee Summit adds a suit of chrome detailing features to the standard specification of the Overland diesel ($71,000 plus ORCs).
Exterior extras include a special-edition grille with chrome mesh inserts, unique lower front fascia with chrome bar, body-coloured wheel-arch flares, five/twin-spoke satin-finish 20-inch alloy wheels, door lowers finished with chrome trim, a unique lower rear fascia with integrated trapezoid exhaust finishers in chrome and Summit badging on rear tailgate.
Inside, there’s NaturaPlus leather trim – the highest grade of leather found in any Jeep vehicle -- premium headlining with suede-like finish, genuine open-pore wood trim (available with Grand Canyon interior finish) and a harmon/kardon 19-speaker surround sound system with GreenEdge speaker tech.
There are no mechanical changes, meaning a 184kW/570Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 that consumes 7.5L/100km is standard, in eight-speed automatic form.
As per the Overland diesel, safety features continue to include Forward Collision Warning (FCW) with crash mitigation, Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Rear Cross Path Detection (RCPD).
Quadra Lift Air Suspension, which allows the driver to adjust the vehicle’s ride height to suit specific applications, and the five-mode Selec-Terrain traction control system also remain.
Exterior paint colours from the 2014 Grand Cherokee range can be matched with two interior colour schemes – Morocco and Grand Canyon, the latter offering the high-grade genuine open-pore wood finish.
Premium paint and rear DVD entertainment centre can be fitted as options to the new Grand Cherokee range-topper (excluding the $77,000 Grand Cherokee SRT).
“Grand Cherokee has enjoyed unprecedented sales success this year; more than 10,000 units have been sold year-to-date and it has led Australian Large SUV segment sales for the past four months,” said Fiat Chrysler Australia CEO and President Veronica Johns.
“And at a time when many Australian buyers are in the market for a refined diesel SUV, Grand Cherokee Summit provides the ultimate solution at a compelling price point.
“We are excited to introduce this premium model to the extensive 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee model range.”
MY14 Grand Cherokee pricing continues to start at $45,000 drive-away for the 3.6-litre petrol V6-powered Laredo 4x2, increasing to $46,000 plus on-road costs for the 4x4 and $51,000 plus ORCs for the 4x4 CRD.
