The first electrified model from fast-growing Chinese brand Haval is only weeks away, with GWM Australia confirming today that the 2022 Haval H6 Hybrid will begin arriving in showrooms soon with a sticker price of $44,990 drive-away.
The petrol-electric mid-size SUV will only be available in a single model grade – the Haval H6 Hybrid Ultra 4x2 – and carries a premium of $6000 compared to the regular 2.0-litre turbo-petrol H6 Ultra 4x2 that starts at $38,990 drive-away.
The price point places the Chinese brand’s first hybrid around the mark of the mid-spec Toyota RAV4 Hybrid GXL 2WD – set at $40,325 plus on-road costs (or $44,886 drive-away, based on Victorian numbers) – however the H6 has an extremely high specification in its favour.
Headline features highlighted by Haval include:
Power comes from a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that pairs with a 130kW electric motor to deliver a combined output of 179kW and 530Nm.
Driving only the front wheels through a two-speed Direct Hybrid Transmission (DHT), the H6 Hybrid consumes 5.2L/100km of regular unleaded on the official combined (city/country) economy cycle.
This compares with the standard H6 that relies on a less-muscular 150kW/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and returns economy of 7.4L/100km.
Four driving modes are available on the hybrid version – EV, Series, Parallel and Regeneration – while visually it differentiates itself from regular models with a revised front grille, centre brake lights and different door trims.
As per all vehicles from GWM and Haval, the 2022 Haval H6 Hybrid will be covered by a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty and five years’ roadside assistance.
It will also offer a five-year capped-price servicing program, costs for which are still to be announced.
