Vlogger Emelia Hartford has released a short video clip that previews the incredible soundtrack owners of the new 2022 Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06 will be treated to every time they near its 8600rpm redline.
From a camouflaged prototype in what's thought to be a GM-owned test facility, the glorious sound of the high-revving naturally-aspirated circa-450kW 5.5-litre V8, dubbed LT6, is reminiscent of other flat-plane crankshaft V8-powered Ferrari models, like the 2007 Ferrari 430 Scuderia.
Last month the Corvette Z06 was completely revealed following a leak on social media.
It features a more aggressive front-end design with a lower, sharper front lip spoiler, new wheels, larger side air intakes and a low-rise rear wing, and we can also now see that it will be offered with a high-rise rear wing that was seen on earlier prototypes testing at the Nurburgring.
Details of the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 are being kept secret until its official launch later today in the US (October 26), ahead of North American customer deliveries in 2022 and a potential Australian launch after that.
General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) is yet to confirm availability for Australia or New Zealand, with a spokesperson telling carsales today that “Z06 hasn’t been announced as a right-hand drive model yet; we’re concentrating on the right-hand drive C8 Corvette at the moment”.
