Hennessey Supercharged H700 Corvette unleashed
Texas tuner’s supercharger conversion for regular C8 sees power pumped up to 528kWUS hypercar-maker and tuner Hennessey Performance has created a new supercharger kit for the Chevrolet C8 Corvette Stingray that boosts power to 529kW and torque to an almighty 865Nm.
Dubbed the Hennessey Supercharged H700 kit, the comprehensive performance upgrade costs a punchy $US39,950 ($A72,000) but includes a supercharger, intercooler, new exhaust, wheels, graphics and badging, plus the obligatory ECU retune.
Developed for the C8 Corvette, which is powered by a mid-mounted LT2 6.2-litre V8, the new kit is said to raise power by 44 per cent and torque by 37 per cent over the standard car, and produces even higher outputs than the flagship Corvette Z06 (500kW/623Nm).
Key to unlocking the power from the LT2 V8 is the high-flow centrifugal supercharger as well as a redesigned induction system and new air-to-water intercooler, plus the freer-flowing cat-back exhaust.
Included with the kit are new lightweight 19-inch and 20-inch wheels that come with a brushed aluminium satin-black graphite finish.
A set of chequered-flag style graphics are also offered.
Commenting on the new H700 pack, company founder and CEO John Hennessey said: “The stock C8 Corvette Stingray is an extraordinary sports car.
“Our exciting ‘H700’ supercharger package integrates seamlessly with the eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and our exhaust upgrade sounds much more aggressive than stock.
“Considering that our power and torque surpass the factory Z06, the Hennessey ‘H700’ is arguably the best value high-performance supercar in the world.”
Like Hennessey’s other offerings, the H700 supercharger performance upgrades come with a three-year/58,000km warranty and, if you think $72,000 is too rich, a power-only package with just the supercharger upgrade is also offered for $US34,950 ($A50,100).
All packages a backed by a warranty and feature ‘Hennessey’ and ‘H700’ badging, plus a serial-numbered plaque.
