Holden will release a significantly upgraded Colorado range next year, but to better battle the plethora of new one-tonne rivals released this year it has released the limited-edition Colorado LS-X ute.
Headlined by the introduction of new 16-inch alloy wheels, an alloy sports bar and front fog lights, the LS-X is claimed to save customers more than $1000 on accessories for the entry-level LS 4x4 Crew Cab diesel pick-up on which it's based.
Limited to 750 units and available from mid-October, the LS-X also features a smoked Colorado-branded bonnet protector, carpet flooring and LS-X badge.
First released in June 2012 and then updated for MY15 in November 2014 (like the rest of the current Colorado line-up), the LS 4x4 Crew Cab is priced at $45,490 plus on-road costs.
The special LS-X manual, meantime, is priced $1000 higher at $46,490 plus ORCs ($48,690 auto) – the same price as the up-specced Colorado LT Crew Cab.
There are no mechanical changes, meaning a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, 3.5-tonne towing capacity and shift-on-the-fly 4WD.
"The Colorado LS pick-up is a very tough and capable truck and now with these additional features Colorado LS-X it is as equally eye-catching," said Holden's Executive Director of Sales, Peter Keley.
"We are committed and focused on ensuring our customers get exceptional value for money and Colorado LS-X demonstrates this perfectly, boasting over $1000 of savings on accessories as a group.
"Additionally with our Lifetime Capped Price Servicing and free scheduled services until 2020, this is an excellent time for customers to visit their local Holden dealer."
