Holden announces pricing for new Astra
GM brand confirms its European Car of the Year for Australia will be priced from $21,990Holden has released the pricing of its new Polish-built Astra hatch range will start from as little as 21,990.
The Astra model line-up will be available in several guises, with the range peaking at $33,190 for the flagship RS-V auto variant.
Already a great success story in Europe, winning the 2016 European Car of the Year, the Astra is the product of GM's European Opel 'homeroom'.
According to Holden, the new Astra, which will be badged here as a Holden, will be bristling with tech laden features including Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, IntelliLux LED Matrix headlamps, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a rear view camera.
Peter Keley, Holden's Executive Director of Sales, said: "It's incredibly exciting to see the first all-new Holden Astra built and ready to ship – it's a stunning car, packed with state-of-the-art technology, and another great example of the exciting future vehicles we will be introducing over the next couple of years.
"Holden has committed to replacing or refreshing every single model in our line-up as part of our plan to launch 24 new models by the end of 2020".
The re-association of the Astra nameplate with the Holden brand follows an ill-judged attempt to launch the Opel brand in Australia and the decision to quit building the Cruze at Holden's local manufacturing plant at Elizabeth in South Australia.
Holden has begun advertising the Astra in a new TV Commercial campaign and is also inviting expressions of interest at a website for the car.
