Holden Cruze recall
Fuel leak hazard prompts actionToyota isn't feeling so lonely now, with Holden announcing it is joining the recall club. Over 9000 examples of the Cruze are being recalled over a potential fuel leak.
The cars affected are the 2010 model Cruze fitted with the 1.8-litre petrol engine. Holden is reporting a manufacturing fault with the fuel feed hose that can lead to a leak in the fuel system.
So far there have been 71 reported cases of fuel leaks on the Cruze so Holden has taken the decision to ask 9098 owners of affected cars to return to dealerships to get the problem fixed. According to Holden there have been no reports of accidents or injuries caused by the problem.
It is the second recall of a South Korean-built Holden this year. In January, 13,000 examples of the Captiva SUV had to be fixed after problems emerged with the steering.
It has not been a good time for Australia's leading car brands recently. Toyota is still reeling in America and Europe following complaints about several models, including the Prius and Camry. Toyota Australia has to recall 2400 examples of the Prius to deal with a potential brake fault.
