Holden has announced Z-Series variants of the Cruze sedan and hatch, featuring additional equipment and priced inclusive of on-road costs.
While the company has not disclosed local timing for the facelifted Cruze revealed in New York last month, the extra-value Cruze Z-Series could be taken as a sign that the facelift is not far away and Holden is clearing existing stock or keeping the local production plant up to speed – or both. The Z-Series replaces both the CDX and SRi-V models of Cruze, but is not available in the (imported) wagon body style. Naturally-aspirated (1.8-litre petrol) and turbo-diesel variants ride on unique 17-inch alloy wheels in a dark finish, and also gain rear lip spoiler and exclusive floor mats/sill plates/badging. Cruze SRi-V Z-Series are fitted with dark finish 18-inch alloys, a rear spoiler for the hatchback, alloy pedal covers and exclusive floor mats/sill plates/badging.
"Without doubt, the Cruze Z-Series and SRi Z-Series represent two of the best value offerings in the small car market today," said Philip Brook, Holden's Executive Director Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing.
"Aggressive driveaway pricing and high-end features mean that they will be sure to stand out in this highly competitive small car market."
Holden will kick off the Z-Series run with drive-away pricing for two specific variants – the 1.8-litre sedan ($22,990) and the 1.6-litre turbo ($27,990). Both vehicles are manual-only.
Once the preliminary retail incentive is ended, all Cruze Z-Series models will revert to manufacturer's list pricing, as follows:
Z-Series sedan, 1.8 litre (manual) - $21,990
Z-Series sedan, 1.8 litre (auto) - $24,190
Z-Series sedan, 2.0 litre diésel (auto) - $28,190
SRi Z-Series hatch / sedan, 1.6 litre (manual) - $26,490
SRi Z-Series hatch / sedan, 1.6 litre (auto) - $28,690
