Holden whips up a Storm

Holden has announced its new Storm special-edition Commodore models, which command a $500 price premium but add more equipment.

As we reported in early April, the new models are priced from $33,490, and include SV6 and SS versions of the sedan, Sportwagon and Ute.

Holden has now confirmed that standard Storm features will include several driver aids such as an automatic parking function that parks the car itself, a reversing camera with reverse traffic alert and a blind-spot monitoring system.

Storm models also get an eight-inch colour touch-screen display with Holden's MyLink infotainment system, satellite-navigation, red stitching on the seats and unique Storm embroidery on the dashboard.

Exterior upgrades comprise unique alloy wheels featuring a dark finish around the wheel spokes, chrome highlights around the front foglights and Storm badges.

Expected to stimulate sales of the Holden Commodore, which have already increased by more than 60 per cent compared to the same time last year, equating to more than 3000 sales, the new Storm models "will help add to that success," says Philip Brook, Executive Director of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing at GM Holden.

"The SV6 and SS Commodore have always been incredibly sporty, stylish and aspirational while representing fantastic value for money – the VF Storm takes that to a new level and is without a doubt the most compelling Commodore offer yet," he said.

"With standard features such as satellite-navigation and unique alloys, we’re confident this special-edition will create serious excitement for new car buyers."

Holden is also offering a new Storm version of the Colorado 4x4 crew-cab ute.
