Honda announces pricing for diesel CR-V
CR-V range adds diesel power, two grades from $38,290Honda will finally offer Aussie CR-V buyers the choice of turbo-diesel power – joining the likes of Ford, Holden, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Toyota, Subaru, Suzuki and Volkswagen, who have long offered similarly sized diesel-powered models.
The two-strong CR-V diesel range is to be lead by the base grade CR-V DTi-S manual, which is priced from $38,290 (plus on-road costs). An automatic transmission adds $2300 to the list price. The range is topped by the CR-V DTi-L variant, which is offered exclusively with an automatic transmission and priced from $45,340 (plus ORCs).
Metallic paint attracts a further $575 premium.
The UK-built CR-V diesel twins join the fourth-generation line-up more than 12 months after the petrol range was launched. It is expected the diesel variants will help grow CR-V sales, which totalled 12,510 units in 2013 behind the Mazda CX-5 (20,129), Toyota RAV4 (16,983) and Subaru Forester (13,649) respectively.
Power is provided by a common-rail 2.2-litre four-cylinder i-DTEC engine providing 110kW and 350Nm. Both variants are fitted with Honda’s Real Time (on demand) all-wheel drive system.
Honda says that when fitted with a six-speed manual transmission the CR-V DTi-S will achieve a combined cycle fuel economy figure of 5.8L/100km or 6.7L/100km if the five-speed automatic is optioned. The auto-only CR-V DTi-L consumes fractionally more at 6.9L/100km. CO2 emissions are listed at 151g/km, 175g/km and 182g/km respectively.
Entry grade CR-V DTi-S variants receive 17-inch alloy wheels (with a full-size matching spare), dusk-sensing halogen headlights, LED daytime running lights, front foglights, LED tail-lights, cruise control, a reversing camera, rain-sensing wipers, Bluetooth telephony, dual-zone climate control, satellite navigation with SUNA Traffic and a DVD player, rear parking sensors and an electrochromatic rearview mirror as standard.
While the CR-V DTi-L model adds 18-inch alloy wheels (with a full-size matching spare), Smart Entry and push-button start, front parking sensors, HID bi-xenon headlights with active cornering, heated eight-way electrically-adjustable leather seats with memory, ambient door lighting and roof rails.
Both variants are awarded a five-star ANCAP safety rating, and are fitted with front, side and full-length curtain airbags, stability and traction control with Trailer Stability Assist, and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist.
The new diesel variants join the fourth-generation CR-V range from this week.
