Thailand got its first in-the-flesh look at Honda’s all-new NSX at the 30th Motor Expo 2013 as it joined 13 other Honda models displayed under the awkwardly-named “Shining through the Next Era” concept intended to showcase what the company sees as its leadership in innovative automobiles.
An example is the latest NSX which, like new generation supercars from other car-makers, embraces hybrid technology to minimise emissions and fuel consumption. It also powers all four wheels via the equally awkwardly-titled SH-AWD Super Handling All-Wheel Drive technology that uses a mid-mounted, direct injection VTEC V6 to drive the rear wheels and electric power to drive the front wheels.
The recyclable aluminium-bodied Honda features what Honda describes as a Human Support Cockpit, offering “a whole new level” of driving experiences.
The new NSX is Australia-bound and was unveiled firstly with Acura badges at the Detroit motor show in January this year, followed by a showing at the Frankfurt motor show in September wearing Honda badges. The Thailand show also saw Honda displaying its new-generation 2.4-litre Odyssey, complete with its Multi-View Camera System, Honda Smart Parking System, Blind Spot Information System and Cross Traffic Monitor.
