Honda Super-ONE sold out for 2026

Customer interest outpaces pre-sale hype of Honda Civic Type R and Honda Prelude in Australia

The News

Honda's retro city car might be its smallest EV, but it's shaping up as one of its biggest talking points. The 2026 Honda Super-ONE has pulled more early interest than both the Civic Type R and the Prelude ahead of its local launch – and the first cars are already spoken for.

The Key Details

  • Almost 7000 expressions of interest for the Honda Super-ONE
  • More early interest than both the Civic Type R and Prelude
  • Priced from $36,900 drive-away in Australia
  • First deliveries start October 1, with 2026 supply already allocated
  • Honda is now taking orders into 2027

The Finer Details

Could this be the little EV that reignites Honda's spark? The pre-sale phase has been huge for Honda, the Super-ONE attracting almost 7000 sign-ups, eclipsing two of Honda's most emotionally charged nameplates.

"During our Expressions of Interest phase, Honda Super-ONE attracted almost 7000 sign-ups – more than both Civic Type R and Prelude," a Honda Australia spokesperson said.

That's a serious statement for a 3.5-metre long EV that gives up range and space to rivals like the BYD Dolphin, and it hints that Honda's bet on charm over spec-sheets could be paying off early.

The interest is already converting to metal moving out the door. Honda has confirmed the first cars – roughly 130 vehicles – are already sold, and it's now taking orders into 2027.

"We're into 2027 deliveries now," the spokesperson confirmed.

"We're not bringing in batches as we do with Type R, it's a constant stream but the ones scheduled for delivery this year are allocated. We're obviously trying to bring deliveries forward as much as we can."

Honda Civic Type R

Priced from $36,900 drive-away (or $37,400 for the Two-Tone grade), the Super-ONE lands as the cheapest way into Honda's EV era.

Under the boxy retro body sits a compact 29.6kWh battery good for up to 253km, with power stepping from 47kW to 70kW and 162Nm when you flick into BOOST Mode – a party trick that simulates a seven-speed manual, complete with piped-in engine noise.

The Road Ahead

Deliveries for the tiny Honda EV start October 1, 2026, though supply is tight, with fewer than 130 cars locked in for 2026 before bigger volumes arrive early next year.

On this early evidence, Honda's smallest EV might just carry an outsized load – reminding buyers why they fell for the brand in the first place.
