The Finer Details

Honda’s first production EV for Australia will arrive under $40K and slightly cheaper than last month’s leaked pricing suggested, but it’s still a good $13K more than the BYD Atto 1.

It’s also pricier than rivals like the Geely EX2 and GAC Aion UT, but undercuts electric offerings from more established players, including the Hyundai Inster ($39K + ORCs).

What’s more, fewer than 130 examples are earmarked for Australia for the remainder of 2026 despite Honda saying more than 6500 expressions of interest had been registered since the Super-ONE made its Australian debut earlier this year – exceeding the response received for the current Civic Type R.

Measuring just 3.5 metres long and tipping the scales at 1093kg, the compact EV runs a 29.6kWh battery pack good for a claimed 253km. DC fast charging capability is said to allow the battery to charge from 15 to 80 per cent in around 30 minutes.

It also features several drive modes, including Boost Mode which temporarily increases peak output from 47kW to 70kW while maintaining 162Nm of torque.

It also introduces a simulated seven-speed transmission and active sound control, which generates an engine-like soundtrack inside the cabin.

Exterior styling meantime draws inspiration from the 1980s Honda City Turbo II, with boxy proportions complemented by flared wheel arches, a roof spoiler and black alloy wheels, while inside, Honda's signature Magic Seats feature.
