Honda's Accord range is back within reach of buyers on a budget with the revival of the VTi variant at entry level.
Priced at $32,990, the Accord VTi is fully $11,000 cheaper than the Accord VTi-L with which the base model shares its engine and other mechanicals. The expanded range arrives here in facelifted form, now wearing the same 'solid wing face' grille pioneered by the new Civic.
Like the VTi-L, the entry-level Accord is powered by a 2.4-litre DOHC four-cylinder rated at 129kW and 225Nm. Fuel consumption in combined-cycle testing is 8.0L/100km, just 0.2L/100km more than the higher-specified (and heavier) Accord VTi-L.
Along with the new visual cues, the Accord is upgraded in the connectivity department, scoring an 'Advanced Display Audio' compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for all three trim levels.
New driver-assist technology for the Accord includes the Honda Sensing package, a multi-angle reversing camera and LaneWatch. Honda Sensing combines Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).
In addition to the new grille, the Accord can be distinguished by redesigned headlights, revised front and rear bumpers, new wheels for the VTi and V6L, and LED fog lights. Honda has added a new colour, 'Brilliant Sport Blue' to the Accord's colour palette.
“The Honda Accord has a very loyal customer base within the Australian market,” said Honda Australia Director, Mr. Stephen Collins.
“We're providing buyers with an extensive standard features list at a very competitive entry point. The combination of upgraded styling, improved connectivity and technology features, will appeal to a wide range of prestige sedan customers.”
The updated Accord is in Honda dealerships, priced as follows:
VTi – $32,990
VTi-L – $43,990
V6L – $52,590
