A high-performance 2024 Skoda Elroq RS will crown the Czech brand’s incoming all-new, all-electric small SUV line-up, which will replace the current Karoq.
According to Skoda CEO Klaus Zellmer, the flagship model of the Skoda Elroq range is already in development and should be timed to make its debut shortly after the SUV goes on sale next year.
“You’re going to see the Elroq RS,” Zellmer told journalists at the Munich motor show this week, confirming that it would join the Skoda Enyaq RS in the brand’s line-up.
Previewed back in April by a basic blocky shape, the zero-emissions Elroq will be the latest recipient of the brand’s new ‘Modern Solid’ rugged design language that has already been previewed by the Skoda Vision 7S concept.
Based on the Volkswagen Group’s dedicated MEB architecture for electric vehicles, the Elroq RS is expected to feature a development of the dual-motor/all-wheel drive powertrain found in the Enyaq RS, which pushes out 220kW and 460Nm of torque.
Combined with a new 86kWh battery, the Elroq RS should be capable of a range of almost 550km, while a rapid 0-100km/h sprint of less than 6.0 seconds should be possible.
It’s too early for pricing but in Europe the cheapest Elroq is tipped to start from $70,000.
Elroq is just one of six Skoda EVs that will arrive between now and 2026, following an incredible €5.6 billion ($A9.3b) investment.
Skoda hopes that by 2030 EVs will account for more than 70 per cent of its global sales.
