Skoda has reportedly confirmed it could launch a full-fat Fabia vRS hot hatch if there’s enough interest and demand for the warmed Fabia 130 that debuted in October. The brand supposedly deeming the special edition a working proof of concept.

Already the fastest factory variant to date with a top speed of 228km/h, the 2025 Skoda Fabia 130 outputs a fitting 130kW/250Nm – courtesy of a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine – and will launch from 0-100 km/h in a claimed 7.4 seconds.
The extra punch is paired with lowered sports suspension, retuned power steering, a two-stage ‘dynamic control’ system (traction and stability control), sport seats, and a remapped seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Red brake callipers, 18-inch alloy wheels, a front splitter, roof spoiler, and rear diffuser round out the sporty vibe.
According to British publication Autocar, Skoda management views the Fabia 130 as a ‘proof of concept’ for an even hotter Fabia, a project engineers are said to be “enthusiastic about”.
A spokesperson for the Czech reportedly went one step further and confirmed a Fabia vRS was possible if small performance models swung back into favour with consumers; hence why the 130’s progress will be so keenly monitored.

If a new vRS was to be greenlit, there’s no doubt it would leverage virtually all of its performance hardware from the Volkswagen Polo GTI, meaning a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, 152kW/320Nm (overseas), uprated brakes and an XDS electronic differential lock.
An even sportier suspension tune than the 130’s – which already sits 15mm lower than a standard Fabia – could also be applied along with an angrier aesthetic to match.
None of our local Skoda contacts had any insight on the project but did confirm there were no Aussie plans for the Fabia 130.
