A white-hot 2026 Toyota GR Corolla has been teased in the US, paving the way for an even faster, more track-focused replacement for the GR Corolla Morizo.
Posting a single picture of the camouflaged version of the facelifted Toyota GR Corolla, Toyota has confirmed the updated hot hatch will receive new fender wheel extractors, redesigned bonnet vents, and a revised rear spoiler.
Thought to be positioned as a replacement for the two-seat GR Corolla Morizo, other takeaways include what looks like the same 18-inch forged BBS wheels likely wrapped with sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 track-day tyres.
While the last two-seat GR Corolla Morizo wasn’t imported Down Under, it’s been reported that the new facelifted Toyota hot hatch is already under consideration by Toyota Australia, with the revised model likely to go on sale in the second half of this year.
As well as upgraded aerodynamics, Toyota says the refreshed GR Corolla will also feature a bump in torque and come with unique chassis tuning.
It’s not known if the core Toyota hot hatch will receive the updates, or if they will be reserved for the new and most extreme version that is tipped to drop the Morizo name and carry the revived GRMN moniker.
When introduced back in 2022, the Toyota GR Corolla Morizo came with a 1.6-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces between 220kW and 224kW (depending on market) and 400Nm of torque.
In what’s set to be a swansong for the current-gen GR Corolla, rumours are circulating that the 13th-generation Corolla due to arrive in 2026 or 2027 will see the hot hatch switch to a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that will pump out 260kW and produce significantly more torque.
Internally, it’s thought Toyota engineers have targeted the latest Honda Civic Type R that produces 235kW and 420Nm but commands a five-figure premium over the $67,990 (plus on-roads) 2025-model-year Toyota GR Corolla.
