BMW Australia has started detailing its heavily updated 2025 iX electric SUV range, with the refreshed line-up set to be opened by the new xDrive45 M Sport mid-year.
Priced from $142,900 plus on-road costs, the new base model is $6000 dearer than its xDrive40 Sport predecessor but offers significantly more power, performance, range and faster charging.
The headline figures are as follows: 300kW/700Nm (up from 240kW/630Nm), 0-100km/h in 5.1 seconds (up from 6.1s) and up to 602km from a 94.8kWh (up from 76.6kWh) battery pack which can be charged at up to 175kW (up from 150kW) when using DC power.
Headline standard equipment meantime includes 21-inch wheels, adaptive LED Headlights, ambient lighting, four-zone climate control, BMW Live Cockpit Pro, BMW Operating System 8.5, comfort access, Connected Package Professional, DAB+ digital radio, Driving Assistant Professional, an 18-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system, heated and massaging front seats, a glass roof and wireless phone charger.
All updated iXs headed to Australia – other variants TBA in coming weeks and months – don an evolved exterior design in tandem with their upgraded mechanical components, with changes extending to the now illuminated grille, headlights and paint hues.
The new and standard M Sport package adds some extra intakes, enhances key body lines and adds some vertical reflectors at the rear.
Changes have also been made to the iX’s underpinnings with the suspension and certain bushings being retuned in tandem with the optimised powertrain.
Optional extras on the iX xDrive45 M Sport include variable ratio steering, adaptive air suspension and a 30-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system that can only be fitted in combination with $6500 Executive Package (soft-close doors, polished crystal glass trim, interior camera, privacy glass, ventilated front seats and heated seats, armrests, instrument panel and door trims).
BMW sold 25 iXs last month, making it the second-best-selling model of the $80,000-plus premium large electric SUV segment behind the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV (37).
