Hyundai N Track Maps expanded

Hyundai Australia has released an updated version of the novel Hyundai N Track Maps motorsport data logger, expanding the number of programmed motorsport facilities from just one to 14, each with multiple circuits where applicable.

While the announcement has only just been made today, carsales understands the update has actually been live since the beginning of July – much to the delight of the brand’s ‘Nthusiasts’.

Less pleasing to some will be the revelation that i30 N hatches and Fastbacks have not been made privy to the feature, unlike the Hyundai i20 N, Hyundai i30 Sedan N and Hyundai Kona N.

Still, the motorsport-inspired widget features an automatic lap timer that triggers when the car crosses the start/finish line, along with the vehicle’s position around the circuit and a log of previous lap times.

Free for all compatible vehicles, owners can download the update onto a USB and then install the new software into the car’s infotainment system themselves without having to visit a dealership.

Hyundai Australia chief executive Ted Lee said the N portfolio had been designed and engineered to offer drivers an innate sense of fun and driver involvement.

“Now, that’s complemented by the Track Maps software that can recognise and automatically record lap times around a host of Australian racing circuits, to prompt the driver when the opportunity for driving fun arises,” he said.
