Hyundai Australia has announced a host of new safety and equipment additions for its updated 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe portfolio, but the revised seven-seat family SUV range is accompanied by price increases across the line-up.
Taking effect from this month, the price hikes range between $850 and $1750 depending on the variant, pushing pricing to between $45,550 and $66,050 (plus on-road costs).
The MY22 Hyundai Santa Fe update is headlined by the introduction of a centre airbag across the line-up, together a multi-collision braking function which automatically applies the brakes after a crash.
In adopting the centre airbag, Santa Fe aligns with its Kia Sorento sister model, which launched as standard with the safety feature in 2020.
Elsewhere, the eight-variant Santa Fe range boasts additional equipment and cosmetic tweaks, complementing unchanged petrol and diesel engines that will soon be joined by hybrid options.
The entry version of the seven-seat SUV range, the eponymously named Santa Fe, also scores an additional USB port in the third row for an extra $850 pricing.
Active and Elite grades also score an additional USB port in the bleachers, while the Active now wears a new chrome exterior trim package, for a $1450 increase.
The biggest changes are in store for the penultimate Elite version of the Santa Fe, which now gains a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, heated front seats and LED tail-lights. Not surprisingly, it is also subject to the biggest pricing increase, at $1750.
Except for the centre airbag and multi-collision braking, the flagship Highlander remains unchanged for MY22.
The equipment changes come in addition to the existing safety and technology features fitted to the Santa Fe, one of Hyundai Australia’s most popular models. The full model-by-model breakdown can be found below.
There are no mechanical changes for 2022, meaning buyers continue to have a choice of a 200kW/332Nm 3.5-litre petrol V6 (with an eight-speed auto and front-wheel drive), or a 148kW/440Nm 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder (with an eight-speed dual-clutch auto and all-wheel drive).
