Hyundai has released the final tease video of its upcoming i30 N, just days before the 13 July global debut for the Korean Volkswagen Golf GTI-rival.
This time round, the two videos posted on social media see the i30 N return to its spiritual home, Germany's Nurburgring - where much of the engineering development took place.
The videos were presented by Hyundai N boss, Albert Biermann, a former BMW M chief engineer, who explained the efforts made to enable the i30 N to withstand long stints of track driving.
Somewhat cornily, Biermann also described how the i30 N has been engineered to raise heart rates, hinting at the i30 N's fun-to-drive character.
The i30 N has now completed its intensive development program and we already know two versions will be offered and both are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine but with two outputs — 184kW for the regular i30 N and 202kW for the i30 N Performance.
At this stage the standard model is yet to be confirmed for Australia, but would likely be priced below $40,000, while the i30N Performance should slip under $50,000.
Both models ride on sport suspension with adaptive dampers, but the Performance model sports larger 19-inch wheels, stickier tyres and an electronically-controlled limited slip differential.
Weighing in at 1450kg, the i30 N will initially be offered exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission (with rev-match software). An eight-speed dual-clutch auto is on the way and Hyundai claims both versions will hit 100km/h in less than 6.5 seconds.
International sales will start early 2018 but exact Australian timing has not been determined.
