The New York International Auto Show begins on April 2, at which time Subaru will take the veil off this beast here, an Impreza WRX STI.
But as the car's silhouette clearly shows, the new 2011 model STI is bringing back an element of design that has polarised fans -- the giant rear wing.
The Subaru press statement is short and sharp: "The wing is back! Exclusive world debut at the New York International Auto Show."
Anything other than the addition of the massive rally-inspired rear wing on the new STI is unknown at this stage, as Subaru is remaining tight-lipped about any mechanical changes to the turbocharged boxer powertrain.
The Japanese marque will showcase the new-look WRX STI alongside the updated 2011 Impreza WRX (also pictured), which now features a wide body kit along with a wider front and rear track.
