Inbound 2025 Kia Stonic update priced

Kia Australia has announced the local pricing for its heavily updated Stonic light SUV, which now starts at $28,180 plus on-road costs, marking a price increase of $2020 for the entry-level S.

Having broken cover in September, the updated Stonic is mere weeks away from local showrooms and carries a price increase of $2000-$3260 depending on the variant.

Beyond its new exterior design, the biggest change to local examples is the adoption of a new mild hybrid (MHEV) powertrain comprising a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission – as seen in the outbound GT-Line, albeit without the MHEV assistance – for every variant.

The electrification measures haven’t impacted the Stonic’s WLTP fuel consumption (5.6L/100km) in other markets, but have increased the compact triple’s outputs from 74kW/172Nm to 86kW/200Nm.

The gains are even bigger for the S and Sport which previously had to make do with a 1.4-litre four-cylinder mill (74kW/133Nm) and a six-speed torque converter.

Local equipment is yet to be announced at the time of writing, but we know from the new model’s global debut there’ll be considerably more tech – bigger screens, connected services etc – to match its reworked exterior and interior designs.

Kia has confirmed it will release the missing details “soon”, at which point we’ll update this report and republish accordingly.
