Infiniti Q30 revealed

Japanese Audi A3-rival shown ahead of Frankfurt show; stays true to concept

Infiniti has teased a single pic of the production version of its new Q30 ahead of its global reveal, and launch, at the Frankfurt motor show this September. The image confirms reports from within Infiniti that the production version would be very close to the concept, with only mirrors and wheel design differing.

Based on the Mercedes A-Class and GLA, the new Q30 and its SUV brother are expected to also share both engines and transmissions with the German car maker.

Created to be a rival for cars like the Audi A3 and BMW 1 Series the Q30 is hoped, by Nissan’s luxury car maker, to be the firm’s first ever volume player.

Infiniti Australia MD Jean-Phillipe Roux confirmed with motoring.com.au yesterday that he expected the premium hatch and small SUV, set for a launch in Europe early 2016, would arrive in Australia near the end of June next year.

The first pics show that Infiniti has stayed faithful to the dramatic concept.

Rumours are already rife that the Q30 and QX30 crossover could spin-off performance variants badged ‘Eau Rouge’ - a name already used for its go-faster models.

If so, Infiniti could potentially borrow Mercedes-AMG’s 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder that currently powers the A45 AMG.

More pictures and information are expected to be released ahead of its launch.
