Infiniti takes axe to Q70 prices
Substantial discount for slow-selling luxury sedan reduces prices by $7000 or moreInfiniti's rival to E-Class and 5 Series, the Q70, has been repositioned, with prices reduced by $7000 for most models.
The flagship of the range, the Q70 Hybrid GT Premium is now priced at $82,900 – a $7500 reduction. And as the entry-level model, the Q70 GT 3.7i petrol now comes in below $70,000, at $68,800. All other models have been reduced by $7000 also. Q70 GT diesel is now priced at $70,900, Q70 S Premium petrol has been reduced to $78,900 and the same level of trim with the diesel engine now costs $80,900.
Infiniti's decision to move the Q70 downmarket well and truly distances the large sedan from its German rivals, but also provides breathing space in the pitched battle with the Lexus GS range. The Q70 is a renamed, upgraded version of the Infiniti M range, which sold just four cars during the early months of this year, as Infiniti ran down stock ahead of the Q70 introduction.
Since April, when the Q70 officially went on sale, the new car has sold 15 units – versus 35 units sold for the Infiniti M over the first nine months of 2013. Lexus has sold 202 units of the GS so far this year, Audi has sold 477 of the A6, sales of BMW's 5 Series have reached 676 for the same period, and Mercedes-Benz has posted 1192 sales of E-Class.
