Infiniti's Q30 Concept will make its official worldwide debut in Frankfurt next month, heralding in a new era of shared platforms and mechanicals in a front-wheel drive package.
Nissan's prestige brand has released a teaser image that bears a strong resemblance to the Etherea concept car unveiled at the Geneva motor show two years ago.
As we reported, close to 12 months earlier, Infiniti has been working away steadily on a new compact passenger car to fill a gap in the product range below the G Series and new Q50 model. Infiniti is basing the new car on the Mercedes-Benz MFA platform developed for the German company's A and B-Class models.
The Q30 Concept, which is understood to draw more than a little visual inspiration from the Etherea show car, will provide a foretaste of the production model. That has been confirmed in a press release by Johan de Nysschen, Infiniti President.
“This Infiniti Q30 Concept is a prelude to the product portfolio expansion which underpins our aggressive global growth strategy,” said de Nysschen.
“In our quest to appeal to the modern, young-minded premium customer, the Infiniti Q30 Concept has a distinctive style and reaches new levels of product quality.”
Infiniti is drawing on the star power of its Director of Performance, three-time F1 champion driving for Red Bull Racing, Sebastian Vettel to promote the new compact luxury car. According to the company, Vettel has played a part in the development of the (production) model from the start.
