Did you know your new Toyota is made up of tens of thousands of individual parts?
In fact, perhaps as many as 30,000 components, big and small, each specifically engineered to integrate and work correctly with the other 29,999 bits and pieces — the same way, day after day.
The safety of you and your family out on the road depends on your car being in the best operating condition it can be, and so keeping this cavalcade of mechanical activity in good working order is why regular servicing is so important. But also, insisting that your mechanic or repairer always use genuine parts is absolutely critical.
Toyota Genuine Parts are designed by Toyota specifically for your car. They are prepared to the same specifications and tolerance as the components that were fitted from the factory, to help your vehicle continue to perform exactly the way it is supposed to.
We’ve all seen crash testing of a finished car, these replacement and repair components are tested and designed to handle the repeated stresses of life in or around your car. Toyota Genuine Parts are offered with a warranty*, underscoring the trust that the manufacturer places in them.
Non-genuine, counterfeit parts may look the same, some may even cost the same, but they cannot offer the same assurance of quality and safety as components authorised and supplied by the manufacturer. After all, who knows your car better than the people who designed and built it?
Common non-genuine items include oil filters, spark plugs and lamp lenses. These are components which can be produced to look similar to the original, and aren’t always overtly out of place.
A millimetre out here, a thermal efficiency gap there, non-genuine components add a layer of uncertainty to your car’s operating rhythm. Will they fit? Will they last? Will they work?
Using Toyota Genuine Parts is more than just making sure your glovebox opens and closes correctly, or that your indicators blink with a predicable rhythm. Genuine parts go beyond the reliable operation of your car to support crucial safety systems like brakes.
Toyota is working with other Toyota Affiliates as well as the Australian Border Force to orchestrate raids around the world given the growth of fake parts that are sold on online sites and entering the Australian market.
For example, a massive haul of counterfeit products, a significant portion of which were Toyota products being sold on a large online platform well known by Australians, was uncovered in Guangzhou City in China in a raid conducted by the Chinese police acting on information provided by a car manufacturer.
Australians are being urged by The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) to be aware of some online websites offering to sell fake parts. For example, a research conducted by FCAI revealed that 60% of online search results connect consumers with retailers selling counterfeit products.
Non-genuine parts can also heighten the risk of unexpected or more costly repairs. Replacement components that are not up to the standard of the original car may wear out faster, and potentially cause additional wear or damage to other components in the process.
And what price do you put on knowing your car has always been serviced or repaired using genuine components, thereby protecting its future value.
So to keeping all tens of thousands of pieces of your Toyota Corolla, HiLux, LandCruiser or Supra in tip top shape, have your car serviced by an authorised Toyota Service Centre or Repairer, or if you are using a third-party mechanic, insist that they only use Toyota Genuine Parts on your vehicle.
You’ll get the quality you expect, plus the knowledge that Toyota support Toyota Genuine Parts with Toyota Warranty Advantage*.
This way you’ll know all the thousands of members of your Toyota’s parts family will continue to operate in perfect harmony for years to come.
