The first unofficial renders of the 2027 Mitsubishi Triton pick-up truck have started emerging online following the debut of several of Mitsubishi’s next-gen SUVs.
The latest-generation Triton has been something of a mixed bag for Mitsubishi; on one hand it’s been a pivotal step forward in refinement, capability, technology and safety, but on the other it’s yet to make a real impact on the sales charts.
Granted, it’s ahead of the Mazda BT-50, Nissan Navara, VW Amarok and GWM Cannon so far this year, but it’s also miles off worrying the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux at the top of the segment.
The Isuzu D-Max and BYD Shark 6 are feasibly within range, but as it stands, the Triton is only the fifth-best-selling mid-sized 4x4 ute so far this year.
While tame compared to the Kia Tasman, its design been has and continues to be a topic of animated discussion amongst consumers, especially in topflight GSR form.
With Mitsubishi’s design language clearly evolving to a sleeker, more angular trend, Theottle’s speculative renders show promise of a Triton glow-up in the coming years, one that makes the nose look less bulbous and more succinct.
The rear been updated too, namely with vertically-stacked LED tail-light clusters and a full-width brake strip running across the tailgate – BYD Shark 6-style.
It’ll likely be a while before we see anything official from Mitsubishi regarding a Triton facelift, but we’d expect a significantly updated model to emerge in 2027 or 2028 given how quickly the segment is evolving and the pending 2026 release of the next-gen Pajero (Sport).
Light commercials typically have a lifespan of 10-15 years, meaning we could actually see two facelifts for the Triton as per the current Pajero Sport that was updated in 2021 and then again in 2024.
