Jaecoo unveils eight-year warranty 

Chery-owned Jaecoo has announced that every car it sells in Australia will be covered by a comprehensive eight-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, setting a new benchmark for Chinese brands Down Under. 

Currently, most car-makers in Australia offer a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty on new vehicles, although some brands like Porsche still only offer three years and unlimited kilometres. 

Back in 2014 Kia shocked the industry when it rolled out a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty. Back then many suggested it couldn’t be matched. 

Fast forward to last year, and MG Motor Australia announced it would introduce a 10-year warranty – the longest factory-backed protection in Australia – but said that it would be limited to 250,000km. 

A 10-year warranty is now offered by both Mitsubishi (up to 200,000km) and Nissan (300,000km), but both stipulate that vehicles must be maintained within each brand’s authorised dealer network to ensure the warranty remains in place after the five-year mark. 

That’s in contrast to MG and Jaecoo, who offer warranties that don’t stipulate any need for servicing within the brand’s dealership network, while Jaecoo’s unlimited-kilometre offering leads the industry. 

The Jaecoo J7 mid-size SUV will be available Down Under from May 6, but that initial model will be joined by other vehicles, including the larger J8, in coming months. 

The 2025 Jaecoo J7 is priced from $34,990 drive away for the entry-level Core 2WD variant stretching to $47,990 drive away for the J7 Summit PHEV 2WD.
