Jaguar has added a new R-Dynamic Black model grade to its recently revised Jaguar F-PACE range, while also introducing new tech claimed to enhance connectivity, driver safety and general wellbeing.
Beginning with the F-PACE R-Dynamic Black derivative, the range-topping trim brings a new Black Pack that does exactly what you'd expect. It swaps out the mirror caps, grille, chrome window surrounds, badges, fender strakes, roof rails and 20-inch wheels for gloss black items.
Externally, there's also a fixed panoramic roof and dark privacy glass.
Inside, the R-Dynamic Black gets Satin Charcoal Ash veneer and aluminium pedals, plus premium ambient cabin lighting that offers 30 different colours over the standard 10.
In Europe, the new trim is available with either the mild-hybrid diesel or the powerful plug-in hybrid powertrain that's not available in Australia.
As well as the new model grade, Jaguar has introduced two new features for its Cabin Air Purification Plus system.
The first is a new Air Purge that now allows owners to use the climate control system to freshen the air before the doors are open via a timer on the infotainment system or through the Jaguar Remote App.
The second is a Cabin CO2-sensing system that monitors and regulates the carbon dioxide within the cabin. If the concentration gets too high in recirculation mode for long periods, the system enables more fresh air to be admitted to the cabin.
There's now a new display on the touch-screen indicating the particulate levels in and outside the cabin.
All Jaguar F-PACE models will soon benefit from a new over-the-air update that will introduce wireless versions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
If that's not enough, the adaptive cruise control system now gets steering assist that gently steers the F-PACE to help it remain in its lane on the highway.
Finally, Jaguar says it is introducing self-sealing tyres for the F-PACE that are said to feature an integrated sealant layer within the tyre cavity that plugs a puncture to maintain air pressure. The new tech is available with its all-season tyre option on 19-inch, 20-inch and 21-inch rims.
There's no word yet on whether we'll get the R-Dynamic Black trim Down Under, but it's thought the rest of the tech, including the over-the-air update, will be introduced to the range in the coming months.
