Jaguar F-TYPE SVR from $289,590

Most powerful production Jaguar ever to arrive sooner than expected, at a near-$50K premium

Jaguar has opened the local order books for its first SVO-enhanced model, the F-TYPE SVR, first deliveries of which are now confirmed to arrive in Australia earlier than expected in the third quarter of this year.

The most powerful production Jaguar ever will cost $289,590 plus on-road costs for the coupe and $308,470 plus ORCs for the convertible – almost $50,000 more than the F-TYPE R AWD on which they're based.

Lighter, quicker, faster and more powerful than any other F-TYPE, Jaguar describes its inaugural SVR model, which makes its global public debut at the Geneva motor show on March 1, as an all-weather supercar that asks no compromises for daily use.

Key details were announced in late January, including its 423kW/700Nm supercharged 5.0-litre V8, 0-100km/h acceleration in just 3.7 seconds and a coupe top speed of 200mph (322km/h).

New details include the SVR's enhanced aerodynamics package comprising a front bumper and splitter, flat underfloor, carbon-fibre active rear wing and rear venturi, all of which reduces lift and drag.

Jaguar now also says the F-TYPE SVR will ride on an uprated chassis with new dampers and anti-roll bars, wider tyres, lightweight 20-inch forged wheels with Pirelli P Zero tyres and new, stiffer rear knuckles.

It claims a titanium and Inconel exhaust system delivers "an even more purposeful, harder-edged sound", along with a 16kg weight saving.

Inside, there are unique SVR Performance seats with Lozenge Quilt pattern and 14-way power adjustment – similar to those in the Range Rover Sport SVR – plus a suedecloth-covered instrument binnacle and centre console, SVR steering wheel and anodised aluminium paddle shifters.

Other additions include bespoke calibrations for the eight-speed Quickshift automatic transmission and electric power-assisted steering, Adaptive Dynamics, Torque Vectoring, Dynamic Stability Control and All-Wheel Drive systems.

There will also be a Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM) brake system and a 21kg reduction in unsprung mass, helping the SVR weigh up to 50kg less than the F-TYPE R AWD with options including the CCM brake system, carbon-fibre roof panel and carbon-fibre pack (25kg without them).

Other options will include Siena Tan or red leather upholstery.
