Jaguar teases E-PACE

Smaller prestige SUV to make its global debut mid-July

Jaguar has released an image of its new SUV, the E-PACE, ahead of the car's global launch on July 13.

And the company has announced an 'indicative price' of £28,500 in the UK. What that translates to in Australia remains unseen, but if the entry-level model is priced around $60,000 it would slide in below the Luxury Car Tax threshold.

The E-PACE will sit below the large F-PACE and likely rival cars such as the Audi Q2, BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA. As with the F-PACE, the smaller SUV will not be a hard-core off-roader in the same mould as Land Rover products; it will skew more to on-road dynamics.

"The combination of sports car looks with Jaguar performance will ensure that the E-PACE stands out. Every Jaguar is designed to excite the senses, and we think E-PACE will do just that, albeit with its own individual character," says Ian Callum, Jaguar's Director of Design.

Jaguar has seen sales increase by 83 per cent since introducing the larger F-PACE, so the E-PACE promises to deliver an even greater sales volume when it begins to reach consumers. To that end, the E-PACE will offer buyers a choice of petrol and diesel engines from Jaguar Land Rover's Ingenium engine family.

But not content with internal-combustion alone, Jaguar plans to place the mid-size I-PACE electric SUV in production, with a global launch scheduled for a date in 2018.
