British car maker teases its BMW 5 Series Touring-rival ahead of June 14 reveal
Jaguar has released pictures of a camouflaged XF Sportback ahead of its reveal on June 14.
The Brit wagon, that's set to go head-to-head with the Audi A6 Avant, BMW 5 Series Touring and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate, was previewed in a video featuring former British tennis star, Tim Henman.
Set to offer considerably more space and practicality compared to the regular sedan it's based on, Jaguar hasn't confirmed technical details for the new XF Sportback but claims, when it arrives, it will be the "most dynamic premium estate car in the world".
Under the bonnet the new wagon is almost certain to rely on the same engine line-up as the current XF sedan. That means the XF Sportback range will kick off with the Ingenium 2.0-litre turbo-diesel, while range-topping versions will come with the more powerful 3.0-litre V6 petrol and diesels.
Later on, a new twin-turbo 2.0-litre petrol is also likely to be offered.
All versions will come equipped with an eight-speed automatic.
Like the sedan, most versions will be rear-wheel drive but some markets are will get the option of all-wheel drive.
Expected to go on sale in Europe in the third quarter it's not yet known when, or if, Australia will get its cars.
Premium wagons are notoriously a difficult sell Down Under as most buyers prefer to opt for SUVs.
If you're wondering about the tennis tie-up, Jaguar is the official car partner for this year's Wimbledon Tennis Championship that begins on July 3.
