Jaguar has created a new Roadster version of its Vision Gran Turismo all-electric hypercar for the new Gran Turismo 7 video game.
The 2022 Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roadster is said to be a development of the previously launched Vision GT Coupe and the Vision GT SV, and is believed to provide valuable clues on the future design direction of the British brand.
Featuring an ultra-sleek speedster take on its existing hypercars, the Roadster sports a single seat and dorsal fin that are both reminiscent of the Ferrari SP1 Monza.
The fin, claimed to draw inspiration from the Jaguar D-Type, gets an unusual LED-illuminated Union Jack flag and is said to incorporate active aerodynamic aids that deploy at high speed to boost stability.
Other details include a wraparound visor screen and a curious hump ahead of the driver that's thought to provide a monitor that projects what's behind.
Retro leather bonnet straps and a pair of roundel LED fog lamps within the grille are included to pay tribute to the original Le Mans-winning 1950s D-Type.
Other mild updates over the Vision Gran Turismo include a new two-piece front splitter.
Power comes from the same wild 750kW/1200Nm three-motor electric drivetrain from the 2019 concept that's claimed to provide for a 0-60mph (0-97km/h) sprint of less than 2.0 seconds and a top speed in excess of 322km/h.
Weighing in at around 1400kg, Jaguar says the Roadster shares its sibling's optimum 50:50 weight distribution.
Available in the new Gran Turismo 7 game, Jaguar is unlikely to ever push the new Roadster into even limited production.
Instead, it will be used as a lure to entice the game's players to explore the rest of the Jaguar range.
The latest Jaguar Roadster joins a long list of other virtual concepts to have been featured over the past six years.
As many as 26 brands have showcased their wares in similar fashion, with virtual concepts provided by the likes of Lamborghini, Bugatti, McLaren and Porsche, to name just a few.
