Jaguar XF Sportbrake: Christmas Edition
British prestige car maker Jaguar has enlisted the help of a well-known Christmas figure to help promote its new XF wagon, the SportbrakeThe Jaguar XF wagon, or Sportbrake if you will, has broken cover - albeit wearing camouflage and fake tail lights to disguise its rump. The timing couldn't be better either, as Jaguar's engineering unit appears to have lent the load lugger to Santa Claus to help him deliver his presents just in time for Christmas.
We first broke the story about Jaguar developing a wagon version of its highly lauded XF sedan in July 2011, and were assured by Jag top brass that chief designer Ian Callum would "do something different" with this wagon.
The silhouette of the Jaguar XF Sportbrake appears relatively conservative and like a lot of modern European premium wagons features a subtle downward curve in the roofline towards the rear.
Jaguar's latest rendition of the XF is expected to make its first public debut at the 2012 Geneva motor show in March, and will be targeted at the vehicles such as the Audi A6 Avant and BMW 5 Series Touring.
Powertrain variants will follow the sedan's lead, starting with a 2.2-litre and 3.0-litre turbodiesel engines, with petrol offerings expected to comprise the 3.0-litre V6 and 5.0-litre V8 powerplants. It's not clear if Jaguar will offer the hot shoe XFR in Sportbrake guise, but the supercharged V8 engine would certainly make for a rapid wagon.
