Jaguar XF V6 diesel models up for eight-speed
MY12 update for Jaguar XF V6 models includes new eight-speed transmissionModel year 2012 updates for the Jaguar XF range introduce an entry-level 2.2-litre diesel and new eight-speed automatic transmission for the 3.0-litre V6 diesel models. The ZF-sourced eight-speed replaces the six-speed version used by the XF V6 with 202kW/500Nm and XF S rated at 202kW/600Nm.
The MY12 update for the V6 offerings doesn’t include the 2.2-litre model’s stop-start function, however application of the eight-speed will yield better consumption figures.
According to Jaguar Australia, the six-speed equipped diesel models’ 6.8L/100km rating is reduced to 6.3L/00km with the new eight-speed. That includes the 600Nm XF S version.
The introduction of the 2.2-litre entry level model has brought a repositioning in the XF range. It undercuts the previous petrol-engined range starter and allows for the V6 diesel duo to take it up a notch. According to company execs, the 500Nm version will “very much reflect a sporting luxury alternative to the 2.2” while the 600Nm be “overtly sporty moving ahead”.
Expect the XF S to have an aerodynamics pack and dynamic (continuously variable damper system) suspension -- as used by the XF R -- as standard when the MY12 version arrives. The new XF S will also wear an ‘S’ badge as part of the V6 model differentiation.
